SYNOPSIS

In today business world, professional from all business and industry who are in a more senior position, are require to know & understand the basic financial literacy.  This requirement extends to engineers regardless whether they have or do not have financial training background.

The finance knowledge is helpful to engineers, especially in project management, as it allows engineers to adopt a total view approach, to include all aspects including the finance area. This will ultimately translate to better decision-making, formulation & implementation of strategy for the project and company.  

A training course on finance for non-finance background people is the perfect solution for this. It will equip participants with sufficient knowledge, but not too overwhelming for them to understand the technical world of finance.

There is actually more commonality between engineers and accountant / finance profession. Both are involved in technical work, require professional accreditation and regulated by their respective professional body. Their nature of work are logic and “figure-driven” that require analytical skill and critical thinking. Both worked in environment with datelines and periodical reporting, frequently on projects that involve many other stakeholders.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER
                                                              
Mr.Simon Chin obtained his U.K. professional degree ICSA in 1995, he later also obtained his master degree, MBA from Victoria University Australia in 2010. His passion for continuous learning also sees him being certified in Data Science & Analytic, and Financial Technology. He eventually became Malaysia HRDC certified trainer.

Simon’s 35 years of working career is very diverse. He started as a banker in 1990, working with foreign banks such as HSBC, Citibank, Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank.

Being a naturally inquisitive person, he has volunteered to work in many other departments of the banks, including Credit Risk, Credit Approval, Business acquisition, Special Assets and Cash Management in Commercial Banking. He has experience in overseas assignments in Hong Kong, Singapore and Sabah.

He even worked with corporate services firms for a short while, doing company secretarial related work, liaising with public listed companies and government regulators.  

In recent years he conducts workshops & training on Financial Analysis & credit evaluation (for bankers), Risk Management, Design Thinking, Strategy Planning & Implementation for many multi-national companies.
