SYNOPSIS
The Satellite Data Receiving Station (SPDS) in Temerloh, Pahang was built in the year 2002 and became fully operational in 2003.
The station is equipped with satellite data receiving system consisting of the antenna and preprocessing system with the capability to directly receive remote sensing satellite data on a daily basis. The satellite data received ranges from low resolution data up to very high-resolution satellite images.
The remote sensing satellite data received by SPDS is transferred to MYSA Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur for processing (value added) for the management of natural resources, environment, agriculture, fisheries, land and area development, environmental health, disaster, public order and national security
FUNCTIONS
• Spearheading the national space policy implementation; • Spearheading space sector research and development; • Coordinate satellite data procurement and provide satellite image services through strategic application system; • Provide space system testing and measurement services; • Implement and coordinate space exploration activities; and • Strengthen international cooperation in space field.
NOTE
The visit is strictly limited to 40 participants registered on a first-come, first-served basis.
