SYNOPSIS
This presentation offers insights into ports as maritime facilities and their pivotal role in global trade. With over 90% of global trade relying on sea freight, ports are essential for facilitating cargo movement across various transport modes.
Historically, ports were strategically located along coasts or river mouths. As development encroaches, planners must assess community impacts and enhance transport networks, including roads, rails, and logistics services.
The vision is to evolve into a Smart Port that integrates seamlessly with community growth, fostering mutual benefit and sustainability.
