SYNOPSIS

An IoT project consists of several building blocks including sensors, processors, gateways and applications. Sensors collect necessary data from surroundings while processors process this raw data into meaningful information. Gateways route the processed data to proper databases or network storage for proper utilization while applications provide an interface for users to interact with the data.

Sensors are used in connected vehicles, traffic management, smart grids, environmental monitoring, smart buildings and smart homes, smart cities, supply chain management and industrial, agricultural and commercial management. These sensors can monitor changes in the application environment such as temperature or motion and communicate with computing systems via wired or wireless networks.

In this talk, we will explore the use of a set of calibrated sensors in IoT and how they can collect and transmit data easily. We will also discuss real-world examples of how sensors are used in Open Source IoT applications.
