SYNOPSIS
Coming from a long history of agricultural background, Malaysia is not unaware of the impact of biowaste on the environment. Indeed, we do not lack in homegrown, innovative technologies in tackling some of these complications. However, we have come to the realization that tackling the problem at the end of the “food chain” is not impactful. To turn the tide,we must look upstream. We must face up to the reality that we as a nation, are producers of immense quantities of trash. Sound policies, with communal buy-in, coupled with uncompromising implementation thereof, could be the mitigating factor.
