SYNOPSIS
Malaysia has remarkable caves within limestone formations, mainlydistributed in Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Selangor, Pahang, Johor, Sabahand Sarawak. This webinar aims to introduce the basic concept ofGeomechanics for various engineering fields; engineering geology, geotechnical, petroleum, mining and civil engineering, among others. Thecontent of the webinar will share insight on case stability assessment inMalaysia, in line with the recent safety aspect raised by the state government. At the end of the webinar, the audience will have a better understanding onthe importance of Geomechanics in engineering application for the purposeof mitigation measures of cave stability.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ms Ailie Sofyiana Serasa is the Program Leader for the Petroleum EngineeringProgram, APU. Her research is focused on Engineering Geology, RockMechanics and Petroleum Geomechanics. Ailie is a petroleum engineer withbackground in engineering geology. She is a Professional Member of theSociety of Petroleum Engineer (SPE), Board of Geologist Malaysia (BoG) andSociety for Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics (SEGRM) Malaysia. Shehas 10 years of consultancy experience and was part of several projects thatinvolved geotechnical design of cut slopes and rock slopes, cave stabilityassessment and mitigation, rockfall assessment and mitigation, technicalassessment of rock properties for radioactive waste disposal and geo-environmental assessment. At present, Ailie is pursuing her Doctorate degreeat UKM aiming at bridging geological aspect with engineering technicalassessment as an approach to a systematic cave stability assessment, mitigation and risk disaster reduction.
