Speaker’s Profile

Ir. Prof. Dr. Vigna Kumaran completed his Bachelors Degree with Honours in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom in 1998 (under the Malaysian Government scholarship) and 2001 respectively. He joined the Malaysian electrical utility, Tenaga Nasional Berhad in 2002 as an electrical engineer and had short stints in TNB Distribution, TNB Transmission and TNB Connaught Bridge Power Station. In 2005, he moved to Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and in 2014, he became a full Professor, attached to the Institute of Power Engineering, UNITEN.

Ir. Dr. Lee graduated from UTM with Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering with 1st Class honour in 2003 and Master of Civil Engineering in 2004. He started his career with Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn Bhd (SSP) as a Graduate Engineer in 2005. Currently he is the Executive Director of SSP. Ir Dr Lee is a practicing engineer specialised in master infrastructural for mixed development projects, landfill projects, centralised sewerage projects etc. In 2011, Ir Dr Lee enrolled into the industrial PhD programme under UTM and obtained his Engineering Doctorate Degree in Process Plant Management in 2016.
Ir. Dr. Lee is currently the Honorary Treasurer of IEM, chairman of Membership Application Board (MAB), member of Professional Interview Development Board, Council member, Excomm member, Chairman of Infrastructural Committee, member of APT etc. He has been serving as a mentor in IEM Log Book Scheme since 2013, assessor and interviewer under conventional & enhanced PI system. Ir Dr Lee is also the panel of Professional Competency Examination (PCE) under BEM.

Ir. Juares Rizal Abd Hamid has had 42+ years in various functions – as a line executive engineer, project manager, consultant engineer, and company director - whilst in serviced employment (PETRONAS Group, 22+ years) and in self-employment as a consultant engineer. Experiential exposures have included in consultancy business management, project management, process and engineering design (FEL 1, 2, & 3 services), plant performance auditing, process safety management, environmental management systems/impact assessment, as well as engineer training/development. He has, along with, also been involved in various voluntary service contributions and engagements to or with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM), and several Institution of Higher Learning (IHLs). He is a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate (PEPC) registered with the BEM, and a Fellow of the IEM.
