ABOUT MRT PUTRAJAYA LINE PROJECT
The MRT Putrajaya Line or MRT2, is the second Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line, the fourth fully automated and driverless rail system in the Klang Valley. It is a part of the larger rail transport system in Kuala Lumpur known as the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System.
With an alignment measuring 57.7km in length (of which 13.5km is underground) and a total of 36 stations (11 of which are underground), the MRT Putrajaya Line aims to serve a corridor with a population of around 3 million people stretching from Sungai Buloh through the Kuala Lumpur city centre and onwards to Putrajaya. The line will connect Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya. Phase One from MRT Kwasa Damansara to MRT Kampung Batu began operations in June 2022, while Phase Two from Kampung Batu Station to Putrajaya Sentral will be operational by early 2023. At commencement of full service in the first quarter of 2023, the MRT Putrajaya Line is expected to have a ridership of 529,000 passengers per day. This is expected to further improve the chronic traffic congestion currently faced by Kuala Lumpur.
During the technical visit, participants will get a chance to learn more about one of the new underground stations which is Hospital Kuala Lumpur Station (HKLS). HKLS was built at a depth of 30m from the existing ground level to the base of the station box. HKLS is a MRT station that provides connectivity to both Hospital Kuala Lumpur via Entrance A and Istana Budaya via Entrance B. Through this technical visit participants will be exposed to the design and construction of HKL Station as well as experience the completed station first-hand.
NOTE: - The visit is strictly limited to 30 participants registered on a first-come, first served basis.
