SYNOPSIS ABOUT “THE EAST COAST RAIL LINK (ECRL) PROJECT”
Kuantan Tunnel, the 3rd longest tunnel in the ECRL’s Project with the length of 2.866km bored through 2 states, Pahang & Terengganu. This tunnel is a part of 665 km railway line of the ECRL Project connecting the East Coast and West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The tunnel is one of Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) effort to reduce the environmental impact & disturbance to the existing ecological in the Forest Reserve. Adopting New Austrian Tunnel Method (NATM), a sequence of tunneling method to ensure the safety of the construction team while blasting through Weathered Granite soil profile. Visiting Kuantan Tunnel will give experience and knowledge on the tunneling construction, environmental preservation and related safety issues in the ECRL Project.
