SYNOPSIS
Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) is a 512 km Malaysian natural gas pipeline that links the Sabah Oil and GasTerminal (SOGT), located in Kimanis, Sabah to Petronas Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak. The pipeline was designed to transport of gas flow from Kimanis to Bintulu. The pipe type is API 5L X70 steel gradepipe with 36 inches in diameter and designed to resist high pressure gas pipeline. This pipeline is part of the Petronas development project of "Sabah–Sarawak Integrated Oil and Gas Project" and has started its operation since early 2014.
In view of the managing high pressure gas transportation across mountainous region between Sabah and Sarawak via underground gas pipeline at remote location, the challenges of pipeline repair work at SSGP KP 265 become difficulties in term mobilization of line pipes, machinery and equipment. This paper shares a few successful stories of pipeline installation at mountainous region and their challenges.
