SYNOPSIS
Designing pavement is both an art and a science. Step away from cookbook designs and design pavements from the ground up, or subgrade up in this case! We will cover the fundamentals of road design, both with and without stabilization, along with AASHTO standards to ensure that your road lasts the distance!
In this course, the attendees will learn:
1. The benefits of geogrid in pavement performance 2. The performance review on mechanically stabilised pavement 3. To design pavements with AASHTO 1993
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Civil engineers, project management personnel, and any person involved in designing and managing any type of project in the construction industry.
SPEAKERS PROFILE
Ir Lau Joe Jiunn (B.Eng. Hons., P.Eng., MIEM)
Design Manager for Tensar International Limited
Ir Lau Joe Jiunn, received his Bachelor of Engineering with Honours BEng (Hons) First Class Honours from the University of Putra Malaysia. He is a registered Professional Engineer with BEM and a corporate member of IEM. Upon graduation, he worked as a Geotechnical Engineer. He was actively involved in the design and project management of some major highways, factories, and low-rise and high-rise residential developments. He deals with various geotechnical works, including shallow and deep foundations, deep excavations and retaining structures, slope stability analyses, and ground improvement works. He also has overseas experience in Shan Dong province in China, where he served as an independent checker for ground improvement works and oversaw the overall project management. Ir Lau is also actively involved in finite element analysis, including 3D modelling with Plaxis 3D and Midas GTS NX, to simulate representative cases and provide competence advice. Currently, Ir Lau serves as the Design Manager for Tensar International Limited, responsible for the APAC region.
Dr Mahesa Bhawanin (B.Eng. Hons., PhD.)
Regional Technology Support Engineer for Tensar International Limited
Mahesa Bhawanin is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen, School of Engineering, where he obtained both his bachelor's and post-graduate qualifications.
