SYNOPSIS
The demand for sustainability has been seen as growing, with consumers increased awareness on social and environmental issues. Studies have shown that as much as more than 70% of consumers want to support brands whose values are aligned with sustainability and care for planet, pushing the needs for companies to take sustainability seriously. Energy industry including oil and gas players are not spared where energy transition is deemed inevitable. The demand of cleaner energy has pushed a new agenda for achieving sustainability goals while delivering the energy needs throughout the world. In light of these development, what more can be done by conventional oil and gas industries in meeting these demands and challenges. Some key questions to be answered, how will oil and gas companies deliver energy solutions that fuel progress in responsible manner, how do we conduct and grow business in ways that has positive impacts to environment and society?
This presentation will share on how oil and gas industries respond to align its business needs with the ESG and sustainability efforts. The changes are needed to meet the ever demanding stakeholders’ requirement on businesses to adopt sustainability efforts, and challenges in balancing between the needs of making profits whilst meeting sustainability targets.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Ts Fazli Rahim graduated from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (Malaysia) in Chemical Engineering (First Class Honors, Class of 2001) and earned his Master's Degree in Civil and Structure Engineering from National University Malaysia (2012). He has been working with PETRONAS for 20 years, started by joining PETRONAS Research Sdn Bhd (PRSB) in 2001 as Environment Research Engineer (10 years), PETRONAS Group Technical Solutions (GTS) as Staff Engineer (Environment) for 6 years and currently as Principal (Environment) at PETRONAS Group Health, Safety & Environment (GHSE).
His specialization includes environmental services consultancies (EIA, soil & groundwater remedation, environmental monitoring), environment technology development and R&D, capital project management, technical audits and digital project management. His key projects includes multiple national and international EIA for PETRONAS Carigali, Shell, Exxon, etc., development of bioremediation solutions using microbes and phytoremediation treatment system for wastewater, environmental digital solution, (MyHSSE EPICS) and leading operation for first mobile air emission monitoring system (OPSIS) by PETRONAS Research Sdn Bhd.
Fazli is registered Professional Engineer with Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) and Professional Technologies with Malaysia Board of Technologies (MBOT). He served as Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) and Adjunct Lecturer for several universities including UTP, UKM, UiTM, UPM, MJIIT and Heriot Watt University (Malaysia). He is also trainer for PETRONAS Skill Group 18 (HSE) for multiple HSE and Environment training modules.
