OBJECTIVE

To determine the reason for Women graduates leaving their engineering workforce and the motivations to come back.

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Zahiraniza Mustaffa

Ir. Dr. Zahiraniza Mustaffa is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) for more than 15 years. She obtained her PhD majoring in Pipeline Reliability from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (2011), Master of Science in Water Resources Engineering, from the University of Alberta, Canada (2003) and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2000). Dr. Zahira specializes in the field of pipeline engineering as well as hydraulic engineering, covering the aspects of urban hydraulics and probabilistic structural designs. She is currently a Hons. Secretary of the Women Engineers Section of the Institute of Engineers (IEM), Malaysia. She is a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council, UK, Graduate Member of Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM), Graduate Member of Institute of Engineer Malaysia (IEM), Member of Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) and Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Panelists: Ms. Lee San Nien, Ir. Lailatul Aqmar & Ms. Tengku Nur Hafizah

1. Ms. Lee San Nien

Ms Lee San Nien obtained her Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (2019). She started her career in  Great Eastern in 2012 and now, she is Agency Manager at Kay & Associates, representing Great Eastern Life & Great Eastern Takaful. She is a Certified Rockwills Estate Planner and as-Salihin Islamic Estate Planner and presently, pursuing her study to be Certified Financial Planning.

“I am passionate about my work as a life insurance-based wealth planner. I truly enjoy working with clients towards achieving their life goals. I am also a proud team leader of a driven and energetic team. I love working with my teammates towards their personal development and career progression goals”.

Ms Lee is also part of the Great Eastern Talent Search team, where she continuously seek talents who will be groomed to be professional life planning advisors, recommending sound financial solutions to deserving customers.


2. Ir. Lailatul Aqmar

Ir. Lalilatul Aqmal graduated  with Bachelor Of Civil Engineering (Hons) from the Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1997.  Presently, she is a Principal Engineer with extensive experience in design concept, maintenance and upgrading of slopes and embankments as well as conducting investigations, design and construction work for slope asset management works. She also provides technical, cost evaluation and recommendations to her Client regarding new construction materials and technologies related to slope maintenance works. Her other experience are in the design of ground treatment works, pile foundation and instrumentation monitoring works.

In the year 2014, Ir. Lailatul  Aqmal was honoured to be given the mandate to be one of the committee members for Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia to publish the “General Geotechnical Design Reference Notes & Checklist for Highway Construction”.

From February 2018 to date, Ir. Lailatul Aqmal, has decided to be “her own Boss” and works independently as a freelance Geotechnical Engineer.


3. Ms. Tengku Nur Hafizah

After graduating with Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from Universiti Tenaga National in 2010, Ms. Tengku Nur Hafizah starts working as Internal Auditor for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), then continued as Maintenance Engineer in logistics field and finally, promoted to be Category Manager in TNB Procurement. From November 2018, she continued as Senior Consultant at TNB Integrated Learning Solutions (ILSAS), where she provide solutions planning and implementing change management activities to TNB group of companies. In October 2021, Ms. Tengku Nur Hafizah founded Hanami Nature Solutions, a company which providing a platform to local and online communities to acquire and provide resources and services.
