SYNOPSIS
Tunnel is an intrinsic component of our modern day’s transportation of infrastructures. Whether it is for roads or railways, tunnels allows us to better connect our communities, improving our communications, as well as supporting the growth of our population and urbanisation through advancement of engineering in tunnel which allows us to travel across cities, states, or even continents safely, freely and efficiently. Tunnel often presents various engineering challenges and ultimately by overcoming these challenges through our design and construction life cycle, the outcome we need to achieve is to deliver a tunnel that operates to its intended functions in the most optimal efficiency, containing a safety environment for users like ourselves and operators, and a piece of infrastructure that is reliable and maintain available to its functional service life time.
This talk is to provide an overview on the considerations and thought process we have to take as M&E engineers when designing the M&E services for a transportation tunnel.
