SYNOPSIS

The talk will cover the introduction to plastics,type of common plastics, possible solutions to plastic problems such as recycling (mechanical,thermal, and chemical recycling), and alternative materials, and its challenges. Few challenges to a circular plastics economy also will be highlighted such as the waste management, and presence of additives.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Dr. Nor Yuliana Yuhana

Nor Yuliana Yuhana. BEng Hons in Chem Eng (Sheffield UK) &MEng in Advanced Tech in Petrochemicals, Polymers & Plastics (McGill Canada & IFP France), PhD in Material Science (UKM Malaysia), a Chartered Engineer (Engineering Council,UK) and a Professional Engineer (BEM, Malaysia). She has been in academia for about 15 years. She has good networking with several plastic companies, recyclers, and association.Currently, she is a lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Her interests are in sustainability aspect of plastic, and processing-structure-property relationship of polymer blends and composites, phase separation in polymer blends,and also in the barrier and thermal properties of polymer.Besides research, she is a travel lover.
