          common piling rigs, scope of design verification & validation, etc.)
       • Requirements by BS 8004/EC 7/ BS EN 12699/BS EN 12794/MS1314
       • Installation stresses & ground resistance (structural aspects)
3.   Brief review of history of pile design & construction practice in Malaysia
       • Brief elaborations for the changes in pile design & construction practices with quoted case
          histories
4.   Role & responsibility of piling supervision
       • Role & responsibility of site supervisors
       • Important scope of design validation of displacement piles at site
5.   Important construction requirements of displacement piles (driven & jacked) as stipulated by
      BS EN 12699 with particular reference to critical information sought from SI, materials &
      products, execution (driving & jacking, driveability analysis, pile testing, recording, etc.)

BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Neoh Cheng Aik

Ir. Neoh Cheng Aik joined JKR/PWD Malaysia after graduating from University of Malaya in 1974, and has served 25 years in various capacities and posts. After optional retirement from JKR in Dec 1998, he joined Perunding IKRAM Sdn Bhd as director until April 2000. He is currently the Director of E-Geo Consultant Sdn Bhd, which specialises in geotechnical engineering design & construction.

Ir. Neoh is an accredited BEM independent checker (Geotechnics) and frequently engaged as an expert witness in construction disputes/arbitrations related to geotechnical works. Ir. Neoh has previously served in IEM as IEM vice president and Chairman of IEM Geotechnical Division, and as Chairman of Geotechnics Committee of REAM. He has published/presented more than 50 technical papers on geotechnical and road engineering in various local/international seminars/conferences/journals/ bulletins.
