SYNOPSIS
Risks are high in installations where potentially explosive atmospheres exist and the competence of the personnel working in these areas is critical to ensure the safety of life and property. Though many regulations for these “Ex” locations state the need for competent personnel, the requirements for obtaining, assessing, and maintaining competence are not often clearly defined. To help, the IECEx System, an international certification scheme for equipment and services related to hazardous locations, developed its Certificate of Personnel Competence (CoPC) program. Candidates under this program can obtain a third-party verification of their competence from IECEx that can be used as objective evidence of their qualifications in the field. Join us for a review of the IECEx CoPC program, the units of competence available, assessment procedures, and personnel certification options offered.
