SYNOPSIS
Survey Number 4 conducted by IEM from 10-23 December 2020 showed 35% of the employees (699 respondents) indicated they were affected by pay cuts, and 26.62% were retrenched. From the employers (92 respondents), 18.60% indicated they had retrenched staff, and 36.60% placed their staff on part-time basis. By visiting Goodman’s (1982) classic book, Ir. Dr Wang will discuss the framework of turnaround that includes five dimensions: getting ready; building the team; the power of bifocal planning; turnaround strategies, and motivating team. He will also be sharing with the participants two companies which he had resurrected from the brink of collapse.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Dr Wang Hong Kok formerly Principal Lecturer of TAR University College (TARUC)
Ir. Dr Wang graduated in Civil Engineering (NUS), earned two Masters degrees, Master in Business (University of Newcastle, Australia), and Master in Real Estate (UM). In 2013 he obtained Ph. D (UM) in Urban Land Economics.
He is a Fellow of IEM, a registered Professional Engineer, a Member of RICS, United Kingdom, and Hon Fellow AFEO.
Ir. Dr Wang spent 31 years working in the property industry. He turned around three companies. He joined TARUC from 2014-2020 as their Principal Lecturer. He retired in June 2020. He is a Vice President of IEM 2019-2021 Session.
