SYNOPSIS
- Ship board operation is very risky operation. Crew members either on the deck or engine sides have to undergo a special safety training prior to be on board ship called basic safety training, fire fighting and sea survival the least. - Similarly, non crew members who wish to be on board ship for any type of works will have to understand and fully adhere the safety requirements to ensure zero accident and incident of any kind. - Hence this introductory materials on basic safety requirements are to be shared with the participants of this webinar for their awareness and understanding on safety requirements to be observed and practiced to those who wish to be directly and indirectly be on board ship for whatever reasons and purposes.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
- The speaker is a Professor in Marine Transport System at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), 81300 Skudai, Johor. He possess 3rd Class Marine Engineers on top of B.Eng, Masters and PhD in various marine related areas. - He used to sail on board a ship for a year on internship program and later joining UTM as an academic staff since 1983 until now. He has taught a number of undergraduate courses in the Marine Technology program at UTM and the 'Marine Safety and Environment' and ‘Maritime Law’ at the post graduate level. - Apart from engaging students in teaching and learning, he has also been involved in a number of marine related R&D, consultancies, short courses, audits as well as being in various management positions at UTM. Previously he was a Director of Marine Technology Centre of UTM.
