SYNOPSIS

PETRONAS is developing a new gas field in offshore east Malaysia. The gas from this field will be exported to a nearby platform through 18” x 8km pipeline for further processing. The reservoir is expected to have high CO2 content with high temperature & high pressure, hence high corrosion rate is expected.

PETRONAS has conducted qualification on the suitability of CRA Lined pipe for HPHT field application. The assessment consists of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on liner wrinkling sensitivity, full scale testing and fatigue performance of the seal weld.

Both FEA and full-scale testing showed that the liner pipe was not susceptible to wrinkling at the maximum global buckling loading, even without pressure. There was also indication of residual gripping force even though the pipe had gone through full cycle of operation stage. The low cycles fatigue tests also show high safety factor for the fatigue life.

This sharing session is intended to improve industry awareness, understanding and knowledge on technical capability of CRA lined pipe for HPHT offshore pipeline application.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER

I Wayan Eka Putra has Twenty years’ experience in consultant, contractors and oil & gas operating company, covers engineering design, procurement, construction/fabrication, operation, inspection, maintenance repair and rehabilitation for oil and gas pipelines.
