SYNOPSIS ABOUT THE MARii DESIGN CENTRE (MADeC)
Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii) is an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). Serving as the focal point, coordination centre and think tank for the nation’s automotive industry, it functions to enhance technology, human capital, supply chain, market outreach and aftersales capabilities of all automotive stakeholders and ecosystems.
MARii’s main objective is to enhance the competitiveness of the automotive industry and overall mobility including Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Related Services through the adoption of robotics & IoT. MARii facilities are located in several locations around Malaysia. With areas of interest for this visit:
1. Automotive (including hybrid, CATIA) 2. Robotics 3. Internet of Things (IoT) 4. Addictive manufacturing (3D Printing) The Institution of Engineers Malaysia is visiting the MARii Design Centre and MARii Academy of Technology in Rawang.
MARii Design Centre is established with the purpose of enhancing the implementation of Industry 4.0 in the Malaysian automotive industry specifically in the areas of design engineering, simulation and prototyping. It is a product of Government-Industry cooperation between MARii, PERODUA and their vendors. It is an open sharing Industry 4.0 platform, whereby any OEM and vendors from various tiers can leverage on the hardware and software available, such as the Fused Deposited Material 3D Printer, Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D Printer for the additive manufacturing, Augmented Reality, the MARii High Performance Computing Server and more.
The Centre will also enable the automotive industry to conduct simultaneous engineering between the OEM and their vendors during the product development stage of a new model. This will assure quality, and improve productivity of new model development thus ensuring good user-experience in the finished product.
The facilities at MARii Design Centre are well equipped with technologies to cut across other industries, such as the aerospace industry and the larger transportation sector.
MARii Academy of Technology is a technology commercialization centre to undertake technology transfer, validation and adoption of automation practices. The electric bus homologation, robotic programming and 3D printing capabilities are some of the technologies commercialization activities being undertaken at MARii Academy.
