SYNOPSIS

Greener and safer mobility has been the trend for developing a livable city and improved life quality. Human-centered transportation system planning and design are the key issues that call for more attention on the road users of non-motorized modes; that is, pedestrians and cyclists primarily. This talk is going to share the experience from Taiwan, where cycling has obtained increasing popularity in recent years, and relevant infrastructure has been deployed. We focus on how to allocate limited urban space for cycling, how to coordinate potential conflicts with other traffic, and particularly the perspectives of cyclists, in terms of how they perceive and interact with the built environments.
