SYNOPSIS

Session 1:

Construction productivity and quality could be enhanced by factory fabricated reinforcement solutions. One such solution is the welded wire fabric or commonly known as Mesh. Manpower required, construction time and quality can be greatly enhanced by the use of mesh for various structural elements like slab, wall, beam, column etc. This presentation focuses on the various mesh application scenarios in Singapore, the quality standards and how construction quality is enforced through the independent QP(S) system.

Session 2:

The presentation focuses on explaining the complete certification process for wire mesh products (MS145 : 2014). The scope of presentation covers the definition of the product certification, reference standards used for product certification, certification process, types and manufacturing process for wire mesh production, marking on the certified products, issues encountered during market surveillance and identification for the certified products.


SPEAKERS BIODATA

Mr. SARAVANAN NATARAJAN is working with NatSteel Holdings Pte Ltd for the past 20 years. During his tenure, he has contributed to the various functions in NatSteel and is currently the Asst. Vice President in the Marketing department responsible for development and marketing of new products and services. He is also the member and secretary of SS560 work group and also plays an active role in SEAISI (South East Asia Iron & Steel Institute) Subcommittee on Steel Application in the construction industry. Prior to joining NatSteel he has worked with various engineering firms across Asia. He also delivers guest lectures at BCA Academy, IES and Tertiary institutes in Singapore.

Expertise

Saravanan is a specialist in downstream steel solutions such as Cut & Bend, Mesh, Prefabricated Cages, Carpet Reinforcement etc. He has done extensive work on design, development and promotion of these solutions to various stakeholders in the Singapore construction industry.


MR. HASNOL ZAKARIA has been working for 23 years, mainly in the manufacturing and certification industries. He is currently the Senior Auditor, Mechanical Group in Industrial & Consumer Certification & InspectionSection, Product Certification and Inspection Department of SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd.  He started his career in SIRIM QAS International in 2008 as Senior Technical Executive, Vehicle Component Laboratory in Mechanical TestingServices Section.  

Hasnol has worked for Malaysia Sheet Glass as Section Manager in the Safety Glass Division and SONY Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. as Production Engineer, SMT Department for DVD products.
