UPDATED CRITERIA AS AT 2014

From the Benevolent Fund Account, the following benefits will be provided to the needy members in this group. The aim is to reduce annual subscription to affordable amount (25% of current fee) for unemployed members who are in the senior citizen or disabled categories, which should fulfill the following conditions.

CONDITION OF APPLICATION

1.  Category A
A Corporate Member between the age of 60 to 70 and retired from regular employment and not permanently employed by any company and is unemployed and has paid the IEM annual subscription for twenty years (20).

2.  Category B
A Corporate Member who has not reached 60 and has paid the IEM annual subscription for fifteen years (15) not permanently employed by any company and is unemployed due to health reason or permanent disability only.

3.  Category C
A Corporate Member who has been retrenched before 60 and is not gainfully employed and have paid the IEM annual subscription for twenty years (20). (This concession becomes invalid as soon as the member is employed again).

Note
The applicant should make a statutory declaration regarding the employment status for those under category B and C.

4.  Member Above The Age Of 70
Members above the age of 70 and who have been paying subscriptions for the last ten (10) years shall be exempted from paying Annual Subscription.

It is proposed that income level received by the said member should not be a deciding factor as the income could be from savings, investment, pensions, etc as it is not job related income.

EVIDENCE OF PROOF

  1. Photocopy of IEM M’ship Card;
  2. Photocopy of I.C.;
  3. Pension Card or Retirement Letter from the Employer;
  4. Pension Statement on Monthly Pension being paid (Government Employees only);  OR
  5. Certification / Testimonial from previous employer (s);   OR
  6. Notification of Cessation of Employment;   OR
  7. Medical Certificate or Doctor’s Certification of Health from recognized Authority

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Members who qualify under any one of the conditions stated above are eligible for concessions in the annual membership fees.

Members who are eligible and wish to apply for this concession should write to IEM. Members applying must state under which category they are eligible and must furnish evidence as stated in each category. Member can apply at any time of the year, but the concession would only be effective on the 1st of January of the following year.
For example, if a member reaches the age of 60 in 2004 (irrespective of which month) and makes his application in October 2004, the concession starts only from 1st January 2005.

Once the application is approved, there is no necessity to apply every year. 

PAST PRESIDENT

Past President will be automatically approved under this scheme.

NOTE:
This scheme is only applicable to Corporate Member.
