This talk will first highlight the issues and challenges faced in transport sector in Malaysia, specifically in Klang Valley region. It then provides an overview of the government’s plan to mitigate these issues. The recent major transport infrastructure projects that are completed and those in planned will be highlighted.

SYNOPSIS

This talk focused on introducing some highway/bridge projects currently carrying out in Hong Kong. The background and key features of the projects would be illustrated, followed by a brief introduction on the construction sequence and main construction work. Further to that, the construction challenges and technical issues faced during the construction would also be discussed. This talk will also highlight the approach adopted in resolving the challenges as well as the engineering design alternatives.

Deputy Chair of Highway and Transportation Engineering Technical Division of The Instution of Engineers Malaysia.

Dr. Khoo graduated from the National University of Singapore with his PhD degree in Year 2008. She has then joined Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman as lecturer. She is currently the Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. Her expertise is in traffic modeling and simulation, traveler behavior modeling, intelligent transport system, and transport safety. She is active in journal papers publication.

Ian graduated in the University of Hong Kong in early 1990s. He has more than 25 years’ experience in design, construction and project management in civil infrastructure projects in HK, Asia and around the globe; and specialised in transportation sector. Ian has recently been involved in promoting and participating in the One Belt and One Road Initiative; including as an advisor to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
