SYNOPSIS
IJN was established on 1st August 1992 as a heart specialist institution committed to delivering advanced standards in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine for adult and paediatric heart patients. Previously the institute had been part of the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. Since the foundation of the institute, IJN has treated over a million patients and gained recognition as one of the leading Cardiovascular and Thoracic Health Centre in the region.
Today IJN provides a full range of cardiac services. The institute also houses a number of associated cardiac treatment clinics. The institute is staffed by an experienced and committed team of specialist cardiologist, surgeons, anaesthesiologists, paramedics and clinical support staff. The medical staff are fully supported by the modern engineering technology and innovation allowing IJN to treat the most complicated cases.
Without doubt, being a national institute, IJN is equipped with the state of the art modern biomedical engineering equipment for Cardiovascular and Thoracic health. Our participants will have the opportunity to walk about the facilities in the Institute and view of the Operating Theatre for open heart surgery (if circumstances allow) as well as other medical engineering equipment like, CT Scanner, Echocardiography machine and Coronary Angiography facility.
Their Application Engineers (from Siemens and Phillips) will highlight the technical specifications and features of these medical engineering equipment and how the images captured by these equipment enable the cardiologists to interpret and ascertain the defect in the heart of their patient. Besides, a live demo on the use of the echocardiography will be conducted (if circumstances allow).
