INTRODUCTION
IEM EETD has arranged a special AFEO Tour Package for AFEO, IEM/MSPC Members wishing to participate in the visit.
OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge sharing amongst members of the ASEAN engineers and Malaysian Engineers. 2. Platform of exchange of ideas and networking amongst members and also create business opportunities in line with the ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) pledge by the ASEAN leaders focusing on energy sector.
SYNOPSIS
IEM’s Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD) will be organising an AFEO Tour 2016 in Malaysia AFEO, ASPC, and MSPC. This tour will cover three (3) days of separate visits.
The first visit will be to Energy Commission’s Diamond Building – The winner of multiple energy award building in Putrajaya. The Diamond Building was designed and built on a concept of sustainable building, with consideration to reduction in fossil fuel’s usage, water conservation, sustainable building materials, waste minimisation and avoidance, indoor environmental quality, traffic and transport management, construction and demolition management plant.
The second visit will be to BRT Sunway in Bandar Sunway where it is implemented under the innovative Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme via the collaboration of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and Sunway Berhad, the landmark project was also officially penned as the first BRT project in Malaysia in the Malaysia Book of Records. This project is also part of the company’s continuous corporate social responsibility to enhance connectivity, accessibility and mobility around Bandar Sunway.
The third visit will be to Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing Factory in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia Transformer Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (MTM) has positioned itself as “One Stop Solution Provider” for the country’s electrical Transformer market. As a specialist in the business, MTM offers wide and full range of products and services with high quality Distribution Transformers up to 5000 kVA with maximum voltage of 33 kV and Power Transformers up to 100 MVA with maximum voltage of 150 kV. The company has an annual plant capacity to produce 2500 MVA for Distribution Transformers and 7000 MVA for Power Transformers.
The fourth visit will be to Seri Ulu Langat Palm Oil Mill 7MW Biomass Cogeneration Power Plant in Dengkil which will be the first of its kind in Malaysia. Electrical power and steam is generated by burning agriculture industrial waste fuels from palm oil mill and power generated from this biomass power plant is also injected into the national power grid. The fifth visit will be to Malaysia’s First Floating Solar System in Sepang. One of the major challenges in large scale solar farm is securing the land of sufficient size. TNB Research (wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad) together with Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water has embarked on 100kWp pilot floating solar system in Sg. Labu Water Treatment Plant in Sepang, Selangor. Aside from the technical visits, IEM has also organised free and easy tours to a magical evening river cruise and take on a journey through the heart of Putrajaya, which is a planned city and the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The following day, there will be a majestic Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) sightseeing tour, which is great location for endless shopping, food and entertainment in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
