SYNOPSIS

In Malaysia, Coaching program was first introduced on a large scale by University of Malaya Centre for Continuing Education (UMCCed) in 2004. Since then, many coaching programs are made available for public and the coaching approach has been applied and expanded to various sectors both in public and private. Coaching has become an effective alternative in planning and implementing strategic plans for human capital development within public organisations, businesses and corporations.

Coaching program focuses on techniques to help executives and individuals from various sectors to achieve and become successful in their endeavor to improve their capability, potential, goal-settings, discipline and accountability. In essence, leadership coaching encourages collaboration, expands possibilities, leads high performance, promotes empowerment and sense of ownership.

As quoted by Fast Company Magazine, USA, “Up to 40% of Fortune 500 companies hire coaches to improve their businesses.” There is another finding by International Personal Management Association, USA that “Training accompanied by coaching can improve performance by 88%, rather than just training alone, which improves performance by only 22%.”
