SYNOPSIS

ISO intended that ISO31000:2009 be utilised to harmonise risk management processes in existing and future standards. It provides a common approach in support of standards dealing with specific risks and/or sectors, and does not replace those standards. ISO31000:2009 is not intended for the purpose of certification. It is the intention of ISO to embed Risk Management culture in the organization which is seeking ISO certification hence once the staff acquired the knowledge of ISO31000 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines, it can apply Principles, Framework and Risk Management Process to ALL ISO Standards. There is current migration of the ISO9001:2008 to ISO9001:2015 which requires Risk-based thinking to be incorporated. Similarly ISO14001”2015. The date to migrate to the new version is by April 2018.

BE(Mech.)NZ, Mgt Dip. FIEM, P.Eng, Asean Eng, APEC Eng

Currently a Council Member and Committee Member of the Building Services Technical Division (BSTD) and member of the Fire Advisory Board of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and Management Diploma from New Zealand. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineer, Malaysia (BEM) and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). On the 26th May 2016, he received the AT31000 Certificate (Approved ISO31000 Risk Management Lead Trainer).
