Synopsis
Corrosion is a worldwide problem. The destructive effect from corrosion is significant in various industry sectors from marine and infrastructure to oil and gas as well as power generation and utilities. There are so many consequences of corrosion that can be further divided into direct and indirect consequences which has major cost implications, health and safety issues, loss of production and downtime, loss of product, loss of efficiency and the list goes on.
As new infrastructure development is on the rise, corrosion control is to be implemented from the start and aging assets management and corrosion mitigation is the key. It is important for corrosion professionals to reinforce the message that corrosion control planning is a critical component for all new infrastructure development and this applies to all fields of engineering.
Through this half-day course, the following topics will be covered which shall guide you in finding the right solution for your corrosion problems:
What is Corrosion? Consequences of Corrosion Corrosion Protection & Management Corrosion Inspection and Monitoring Application of Technical Standards in the Industry Practical Demonstration of Corrosion Audit Survey
Understanding and learning the new a language in corrosion management could actually reduce a USD 2.5 trillion global cost of corrosion.
Benefits
Create awareness towards the consequences of corrosion Understand the direct and indirect effects of corrosion towards the society Gain a basic understanding towards various methods of corrosion protection Understand the differences on various corrosion mitigation methods Gain extra knowledge on the methods for corrosion inspection and monitoring Exposure to the technical standards for corrosion in the industry
Who Could Benefit From The Course
Engineers and staff who are working in the following fields: Oil and Gas Power Generation Water Utility Marine and Infrastructure
About The Speaker
Michelle Lau is the General Manager at Mach3 Engineering Sdn. Bhd. and holds a NACE International Cathodic Protection Specialist certification. She is an IEM Graduate member and has been an active member of NACE International for more than 15 years and currently serves as the Director for East Asia & Pacific Area for the term 2014 to 2017.
She received her Bachelor Materials Engineering from Monash University, Australia (1995) and her career for the past 20 years has been in the field of Cathodic Protection for the Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Water Utility industry. Writing design specifications, performing inspections and audits for cross country pipelines, storage tanks, plant piping, marine structures, intake and offshore structures are amongst the challenging projects which takes her around Malaysia as well as to many countries in the Asia Pacific Region. She is also one of the very few certified Cathodic Protection Specialist in Malaysia.
Apart from that, she has given technical presentations on the awareness of corrosion, cathodic protection and corrosion control at many international conferences and corrosion management workshops. Her passion and tireless contribution is in combatting corrosion.
