SYNOPSIS

“Building Information Modeling, or more commonly known as BIM, enables the whole AEC industry with a Virtual Design Construction (VDC) approach to building and infrastructure projects. Unlike Computer Aided Design (CAD), which uses software tools to generate digital 2D and/or 3D drawings, BIM facilitates a new way of working: creating designs with intelligent objects which are representation of actual building elements.

Since the BIM model is the virtual representation of a building, the technology allows automated visual feedback of the design changes. Cross-functional project teams in the AEC industry can use these BIM model-based designs as the basis for new, more efficient collaborative workflows that give all project stakeholders a clearer vision of the project and increase their ability to make more informed decisions faster.”
