SYNOPSIS

In an ever-changing pace of technological development, where lightning activities are increasingly taking place at the core of our society, lack of basic understanding on lightning protection can easily cripple any industrial, commercial and government organizations. This is why, having a clear understanding of international lightning protection standards is critical for the protection of lives, properties and equipment.

IEC 62305 Lightning Protection Standards are required on integrated structures, electrical and electronic system. In analysis, proper risk calculation must be considered to the protection of structures , electrical and electronic systems.

About the programme

IEC 62305 (4 part Overview workshop ) is a 2 hour workshop that targets on the general principles used in IEC 62305 part 1,2 3 & 5. By doing so, this will prepare you to have a augmented scientific understanding of lightning protection standards and give you a clearer pciture when embarking on the actual workshop designed for IEC 62305 part 1 to 4.

In additional within this 2 hour session, we are going to cover a 20min Q&A session where the audience get to post their questions pertaining to lightning protection, and this too will be a fruitful learning opportunity for the rest as well.


BIODATA OF SPEAKERS

1. Ir. Raymond Ong

Ir. Raymond Ong has been in the data centre infrastructure industry for the past 12 years and has extensive experience and technical expertise in designing, auditing and project managing turnkey solutions for data centres and server rooms. In addition, he is also a competent air-conditioning systems designer with emphasis on energy efficiency.

He has garnered extensive experience throughout the South East Asian region and gained his experience from working with data centre systems provider like Emerson Network Power and American Power Conversion (APC). Ir. Raymond Ong also has experience as a Research & Development Project Manager for air-conditioning systems at Dunham-Bush (M) Sdn. Bhd. In addition, Ir. Raymond Ong is also has conducted speaking assignments on Data Center Design for organizations like Dell and Pacific Internet. Ir. Raymond Ong has designed, implemented, audited or project managed the following major data centre projects.

2. Mr. Ray Khan

Ray Khan has 15 years’ experience in electrical industry. He started his engineering career with system integrator in proposing, tendering and managing large scale projects, (eg: water treatment plant, residential and commercial building) projects in Asia. He later joined Phoenix Contact where he acquired an extensive and in-depth knowledge in surge protective device (SPD) and protective methods for electrical and electronic systems and equipment against electrical transients. After, he served Thomas & Betts Asia, where he was assigned the position to be the product manager for FURSE During his service, he acquired the skill of designing lightning protection using conventional lightning protection standards and on top of that he was trained in depth on lightning protection standards, where later he conducted multiple seminars and workshops to clients around Asia.

Graduating from University of New Castle Australia and equipped with both set career experiences, have given him sufficient exposure towards lightning protection. Now, being part of a member with LPI (Lightning Protection International), Ray is assigned the position to be the trainer for lightning protection that has being recognized as a world leading brand in the lightning protection industry that has a proven track record spanning years.
