SYNOPSIS

Malaysia has ‘exported’ admirably over the years its professionals to foreign lands and earns international recognition of its ability to produce world-class professionals. The same can be said of Malaysian contractors and engineering service providers whose technical expertise, technology, business acumen and management competency are instrumental to their achievement in respective businesses overseas. However, the route to success is also fraught with challenges. This talk discusses various factors that are determinants to successfully exporting our engineering services.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir Ong Ching Loon is the Managing Director of Cofreth (M) Sdn Bhd and COFM International (Middle East) LLC. The later is a company registered in Dubai for business in UAE. Both the companies specialize in Facilities Management, Operations & Maintenance, Testing & Commissioning and Energy Services for industrial plants and commercial buildings. Cofreth continues to be accredited yearly with four (4) ISOs in Quality, OHSAS, Environment and Energy Management System. Since 2007, Cofreth was awarded with three (3) Frost & Sullivan Awards in Green Services and Facilities Management.

Ir Ong holds a BSc Hons in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA from University of Bath, UK. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the BEM and is an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer. Ir Ong is a Fellow Member of IEM, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and ASHRAE, a Professional Member of MGBC, an Accredited Professional of Green Star, a registered Facilitator of GBI Malaysia. He is also a Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) and a Registered Electrical Energy Manager with the Energy Commission of Malaysia. He is a Certified Energy Management System (EnMS) Expert under the UNIDO programs. In 2012, Ir Ong was conferred the Honorary Member of The ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations.
