SYNOPSIS
The National Engineering Register (NER) will be the go to register for all government, industry and engineering bodies in Australia. This register will provide visibility of engineers, nationally and internationally, the largest of its kind in the country. The NER provides assurance to consumers of engineering services about a registered engineer’s knowledge, skills and training in that those registered on the NER have the following:
- A recognised qualification benchmarked to international standards - A minimum level of relevant professional experience - Currency of continuing professional development - The benefit of Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) and - Adherence to Engineers Australia’s Code of Ethics.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Glen Crawley has been the Associate Director Registration/Registrar Professional Standards at Engineers Australia in charge of promoting and facilitating the National Engineering Register and Professional Standards since 2013. Glen is internationally respected for his commitment to upholding the professional standards of engineers in Australia and internationally. Glen’s role at Engineers Australia includes international accords and agreements, representing Engineers Australia internationally and is a delegate to the International Engineering Alliance. He ensures engineers maintain currency in continuing professional development, liaising with governments and industry on strategies for a national registration scheme. Glen’s most recent project is leading the implementation of the national registration of engineers in Australia with Engineers Australia’s National Engineering Register (NER). The new NER will improve professional recognition and public trust of engineers in Australia. Glen came to Engineers Australia after 30 years practicing as a Civil Engineer / Project Manager in the Civil Construction Industry. Glen is based in Engineers Australia’s National Office Barton ACT and is a long term resident in the Canberra region.
