SYNOPSYS
Mr. Mohd Famey Yusoff – CAR 2014 Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulation 2014 (CAR 2014) has been gazetted on the 4th of June 2014 and came into force on the 5th of June 2014. The regulation was enacted in order to replace the 36 years-old, Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulation 1978. CAR 2014 will regulate emissions of air pollutants from various industrial activities where the legal requirements and administrative burden differ according to industries’ potential to pollute. The new regulation also emphasizes the concept of self-regulation to the regulated community. It requires industries to self-monitor and self-maintain their air pollution control systems, as well as self-reporting of the performance of these systems. Introduction of competent person under CAR 2014 for managing the air pollution control systems will further ensure a high standard of professionalism among practitioner. It is the Department of Environment’s hope that the new Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulation 2014 will provide a better means to ensure a sustainable air quality management for the country which is in line with the country’s aspiration to acquire the status of developed nation by 2020.
Ir. A. K. Woo - Air Pollution Control Technologies to Comply With Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulations 2014 As a result of the Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulations 2014, which came into force in June 2014, many existing Air Pollution Control Equipment & Systems have to undergo a thorough review and assessment of their air pollutant removal efficiency because of the much more stringent emission standards of this new Regulations 2014. Industries are given five (5) years grace period to comply with the new Regulations 2014. However, all new industries, factories and new installations in existing factories must comply with the new Regulations 2014 immediately. This paper will present a full range of Air Pollution Control Equipment, Systems and Technologies available in Malaysia which are capable of meeting the very stringent air pollutants emission standards stipulated in the Clean Air Regulations 2014.
Mr. Tan Poh Aun - Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulations 2014 - Designing the Stack In the newly gazetted Environmental Quality (Clean Air) Regulations 2014 (CAR 2014), the Guidance Document for Fuel Burning Equipments and Air Pollution Control Systems issued by Department of Environment Malaysia to supplement the CAR 2014 outlines some engineering requirements on stack design. The presentation will highlight some of the important elements regarding the stack design such as Raincap Design, Stack Height Determination Calculation using the Third Edition of the 1956 Clean Air Act Memorandum and Air Quality Modelling. In tandem with the recent development of efficient air pollution control system, the Stackless Air Pollution Control System will also be highlighted.
