BIODATA OF SPEAKER
1. DR. LIANG MENG SUAN
DR. LIANG MENG SUAN has extensive experience in Occupational Safety and Health statutory requirements and practices. He has been working with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health for 12 years, enforcing legal requirement on safety and health at workplaces, including factories, installation, pressure vessels, hoisting machines and building construction sites. He is currently Associate Professor with the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Universiti Tuanku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Sungai Long campus. He obtained his Ph.D and B.Eng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering from University of Liverpool. He is also a registered Charted Engineer (C.Eng) with the Engineering Council, UK.
Dr. Liang has many years of experience conducting classes on undergraduate and Master degree courses. One of the classes he conducted is Workplace Safety and Health at postgraduate level. He is currently chairman of the Safety and Health Committee for Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at UTAR Sungai Long campus.
Dr. Liang has conducted numerous 2-days in-house training courses in “Safety and Health in Office” and “Safety and Health in Laboratories” in UTAR at Kuala Lumpur, Kampar and Petaling Jaya campuses. He has also conducted a 1-day training course on “Safety and Health in Food Industries” for Apollo Food Industry at Jalan Tampoi, Johor Bahru.
2. DR.TAN YONG CHAI DR.TAN YONG CHAI received his BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Portsmouth, UK. He had been working in Japanese manufacturing plants in Singapore for 4 years before he obtained his PhD in Engineering. He joined University Tunku Abdul Rahman as an Assistant Professor since 2006 till now.
He is a registered Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and member of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK. He has many years of consultancy experience in pressure vessels safety design. He is currently a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee in the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science at UTAR.
