SYNOPSIS

The talk will give an introduction of chain and its uses in various industries.   Chains are utilised either for conveying or for driving (power transmission). Chains are often the most important part of a factory as they convey work-in–progress product from one station to the next.  Chain failures can result in factory coming to a standstill or factory slow down.  The selection of chain material and treatment processes are all aimed at optimizing chain specifications for differing operating requirements and conditions in a factory. The correct alignment and installation of chains and sprockets is necessary to make chains run more efficiently. Chain maintenance is carried out to ensure maximum durability and a longer operating life cycle in order to reap benefits of reduced operating costs.
