Ir. Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Chiang Choong Luin is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, SEGI University. He graduated from Wollongong University NSW Australia with BEng (Hons) Civil in 1991 and PhD in 1995. Before embarking into a career in the academia, he worked as a Structural Engineer with Arup Jururunding Sdn Bhd (KL). He is actively involved in drafting the Malaysian Standards on design of concrete structures (as TC Secretary) and is now serving as Chairman of IEM-TC on Earthquake and is the Former Chairman of IEM-TC Wind Loading.
He was the Past Chairman of IEM Civil & Structural Engineering Technical Division and has served as IEM Honorary Secretary and Treasurer. He has recently been elected to serve again as the Honorary Treasurer of IEM. In the international arena, he is an active member of the International Committee on Concrete Model Code for Asia, as the WG Coordinator on design. His research interests are in structural behaviour and design of concrete structures in shear, wind loading and earthquake loading.
Ir. Dr. Ooi Heong Beng is presently the Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). He graduated from University of Malaya in 1972 with BEng (Hons, 1st Class) followed with a MSc from University of London, a DIC (Concrete Structure and Technology) and PhD both from Imperial College, London. He is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and Member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Institution of Structural Engineers, UK (IStructE). He began his career as a Bridge and Road Design Engineer with PWD (Malaysia) and later entered the private sector as Technical and R&D Manager in the piling industry and then progressed to Lead Civil / Structural Engineer in Ranhill Bersekutu before progressing to OGP Technical Services Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of PETRONAS) and Ranhill Worley Sdn. Bhd. He is very well versed with Malaysian Standard, the Eurocodes, other international codes and is presently a Member of the Technical Committee (TC) on Earthquake (Eurocode 8), Working Group 4 of TC Earthquake, Working Group 1 of TC Concrete (EC2) and participated in various conferences, seminars and workshops on Eurocodes.
