SYNOPSIS
In the middle of today’s severe competition in the market, designing a product that appeals better to customers’ appetite is both significant and compelling. One convincing way that manufacturers come up with as a response to this unavoidable market trend is to achieve user-centeredness by designing products that are well-fitted, comfortable, and easy-to-use. To support this, considerable efforts in the field have been brought into the modelling of a digital engineering model, which can be utilized in CAD/CAM/CAE system for the integrated design and analysis of a product with the engineer. Currently, Building Information Modelling (BIM) elsewhere and in Malaysia is one of the emerging technologies to be deployed in the planning, design, construction, and facility management. The important features of BIM are that it provides an object-oriented database that is made up of intelligent objects, the 3D representation of integrated information, and a relational database that is interconnected. The deployment of computer-based technology in construction, particularly BIM, can make the industry more efficient, effective, flexible, and innovative while improving the national productivity. This talk will present the state-of-the-art of CAD/CAM/CAE technology and their useful applications for engineer in the BIM implementation.
