SYNOPSIS

Environmental Concerns: What is PFAS and the impact to the environment and human health. Trends and legislation that is driven by the Stockholm Convention and its impact on the future of C6/AFFF Foam Systems.

Fluorine Free Foam Systems: A detailed look at the development and testing of the components and system. A comparison of AFFF versus SFFF systems and the changes to the design standards.

Applications: Principal considerations for system design, applicable standards, and system calculations for the following applications:

•  Storage Tank Protection
•  Chemical Warehouse
•  Aircraft Hangars & helipads

In these applications, the speaker will cover sections of several standards such as NFPA 11, NFPA 16, NFPA 409 and FM 7-32.

Existing Systems: What are some of the principal considerations needed to convert existing systems to SFFF. A detailed look at the system components and some recent case studies.


OBJECTIVES

The workshop will focus on the design and technical applications of Synthetic Fluorine Free Foam (SFFF) suppression systems in various applications.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Practicing and licensed engineers or M&E Consultants involved in the design of foam suppression systems for new installations or for the conversion of existing AFFF systems to SFFF are encouraged to attend.


BIODATA OF SPEAKERS

SPEAKER 1
Ir. CHA HOONG KUM

Experienced in system design, planning, supervision, and commissioning of fire protection systems during his tenure at Fitters Sdn Bhd and Mac-Tech Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Ir. Cha Hoong Kum possesses expertise in complying with NFPA requirements such as NFPA 20, 11, 16, 409, 13, 14, and 15, thus enhancing both engineering and management skills. As the founder of Versus Solutions Sdn Bhd, he specializes in facilities management, fire protection system design and consulting, foam system, fire water pump performance testing, and fire protection equipment supply.

Additionally, he is a member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia and a Professional Engineer of the Board of Engineers Malaysia, currently serving as Chairman of the Building Services Technical Division (BSTD) and a committee member of the IEM Fire Advisory Board.


SPEAKER 2

Mr. SIMON BARRATT
Simon Barratt, Foam Product Manager, Viking EMEA

Simon manages the Foam Product line and is responsible for the development of the product roadmap, working closely with the regional product managers to ensure effective management of product lifecycles and competitive intelligence.

Educated in Business and Finance with over 24 years of Fire Protection experience. Simon began his career at Central Spraysafe where he worked on internal sales and distribution for the EMEA and APAC regions.

He joined Viking’s UK organisation in 1999 with 2 years as external Sales Representative followed by 12 years as Regional Sales Manager which included commercial responsibilities, marketing and technical support for the UK and Ireland territory also. Simon moved to his current role of Foam Product Manager in 2013.
