SYNOPSIS
Underground tunnel construction is a strategic choice aimed at conserving land resources, preventing traffic and utility disruptions, and minimizing adverse effects on the local community for many countries including Malaysia. Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) are employed to excavate tunnels and establishing the underground network based on risk assessment and geological analysis. LRT3 UG package has given a chance to many local talents to be trained and pursued their career as a specialist builder in engineering profession.
This technical visit will give a better understanding and visualization to all participants on the tunnel construction activity especially on the construction method, tunnel lining segment, cross passage, first stage concrete, plinth construction, rail installation, M&E equipment, utilities, etc. This walk will cover roughly 2.2km distance (return) from the tunnel portal to ventilation escape shaft (VES).
Note : SAFETY REMINDER : Participants shall be well-equipped with their own PPE equipment, i.e. safety helmet, safety vest and safety boots in order to be allowed access into the site.
