SYNOPSIS

This seminar is intended to give aspiring road engineers an overview of the complete road design process. As such, the seminar will encompass all major aspects of road engineering including traffic study, geometric design and Road Safety Audit.

In the traffic study segment, Ir. Chin Kar Keong will be speaking on the steps involved including traffic data collection, data processing and forecasting and how these steps transform raw traffic data into meaning information like traffic survey, common traffic characteristics, level of service analysis, weaving performance analysis, trip generation and distribution as well as future traffic volume. The significance of these components and the interpretation of their results will be discussed and deliberated.

Ir. Ts. Syed Khairi will demonstrate the usage of relevant software to perform traffic simulation and forecast based on the fundamentals traffic information obtained from site data collection. The results from this traffic simulation will be used to form traffic forecast and future pattern.
