SYNOPSIS
Protection Energy Management System (EMS) is a structured and systematic management tool used by operators of a facility to monitor, control, and optimize the consumption of energy in their facility. Any facility may it be a factory, office premise or a commercial building will require EMS to properly monitor and control their energy usage and better plan their energy requirements to ensure energy efficiency is met. The type of EMS system to be deployed can vary greatly from a simple offline data collection and tabulation to a centralised automated online data monitoring and reporting system. In this Technical talk, the fundamentals of designing a EMS system is discussed to provide better understanding to the EMS requirements in terms of hardware, software as well as the infrastructure to better help to determine the most suitable EMS solution to be implemented.
