SYNOPSIS
There had been quite a few failures on pressure parts of boiler in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Plant, which could easily be prevented by having minor changes in design. This technical talk will describe root cause failure analysis on four common failures, i.e. creep, corrosion fatigue, steam blanketing and tube cracks, and detail design to eliminate such failures.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir Uthan Chuat Principal Static Engineer, PETRONAS
Ir Uthan Chuat is currently working at PETRONAS Group Technical Solution, looking after mechanical static equipment at operating units, mainly on equipment troubleshooting, fitness for services and remnant life study. Prior to joining PETRONAS Technical Solution, he worked at ASEAN Bintulu Fertilizer and PETRONAS Methanol Labuan. He is also an adjuct lecturer at University Technology PETRONAS.
Ir Uthan earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut (1986).
