SYNOPSIS

The objective of this forum is to discuss about the fundamental changes that must be undertaken by engineers in order to achieve the objective of artificial intelligence (AI) and to discuss the challenges and roles of different industries with regards to their involvement in AI. The questions that will be answered by them during the forum are:

1. How is the government encouraging the penetration of AI into the Malaysian market?
2. What are the challenges that your industry faces in implementing AI?
3. What are the social challenged that you foresee will come about due to the AI trend?
4. How do you manage the AI trend?
5. What skills are required by engineers to be prepared to join an AI related workforce?
6. What are the dangers on AI?
7. How do you see AI shaping our future in the next 5 years?


PANELIST BIODATA

Dr. Wendy Chin Siew Wen is is the Global IoTG Visual Solution Marketing Manager in Intel Corporation. She holds a PhD in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from The University of Nottingham with the specialization in Artificial Intelligence & Computer Vision. Prior to Intel, Wendy played a lecturer role for 2 years with the main research area in Human Computer Interaction and Brainwave Analytics. Wendy joint Intel, Internet of Things group since 2014 focusing on machine learning, visual fog computing, predictive analytics and software test analytics based solutions. Wendy’s research contribution includes 10+ issued/pending patent applications and 40+ technical publications.

Mr. Sua Chek Hoong is the Special Senior Officer Business Continuity Management South Pacific Region, Huawei Technologies. He was previously the Managing Director of Axiata Key Account of Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and responsible for business engagement activities with Axiata Group and its OpCos till end of year 2018. Prior to this, he was the Vice President (Account Business) of Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. since year 2012. He is mainly focus on the sales and business development of key accounts in Malaysia.

Mr. Hazmin Rahim is the Director of business development for public sector in Malaysia who is passionate about helping governments run simple and progressive by leveraging digital capabilities to improve public service delivery. Broad experience with more than 10 years involvement in key national initiatives with in-depth understanding of Technology Strategy, IT Transformation, Business Process Reengineering, ERP Implementation and Project Management. He is passionate in business development, go-to-market and demand generation strategies, thought leadership, public speaking and co-innovation project.

Mr. Justin Goh is is the Co-founder and Business Director of WISE AI, an AI platform company that specialises in Facial Recognition technology and smart city solutions. Focusing on the ASEAN region, Justin is responsible for developing and implementing growth opportunities and strategic partnerships with clients, partners and industries. Working across industries and platforms with the big corporates he has attained more than 15 years of experience in technology, software and business development fields.

Ms. Purnima Wijendra is a data scientist, and the Dean of School of Artificial Intelligence. She was previously a Civil Engineer, but did not like the nature of the work hence she pursued her studies in Computer Science and picked up coding through a bootcamp by Magic & Next Academy. Ever since then she has been developing mobile and web applications from scratch for various startups and organisations in the last 6 years. Throughout software development, she also pursued her further interest in Artificial Intelligence and recently completed her Masters in Data Science majoring in Machine Learning. In her free time, she runs the School of Artificial Intelligence Workshop. She also holds the responsibility of Dean and conducts AI workshops for beginners in her free time.
