SYNOPSIS:-

Fourth Industrial Revolution, commonly known as Industry 4.0, appears to be able to change the way how businesses function especially in the manufacturing industry. The announcement of National Policy on Industry 4.0 shows the support of government to the local manufacturing industry to upgrade their manufacturing processes through implementing of Industry 4.0 in order to increase their competitiveness globally. Manufacturing industry must decide how and where to invest in the new technologies and identify which ones might best meet their needs to implement Industry 4.0. Without a full understanding of the changes and opportunities Industry 4.0 brings, companies risk in losing ground in the global market. This talk is intended to deliver the why, how and the roles of engineers to implement Industry 4.0 by TAR UC initiative though industry-university collaboration in the digital integration planning and execution. The purpose is to digitally transform a conventional manufacturing factory into Industry 4.0 compliance smart factory.


SPEAKER BIODATA:-

Dr. Lee Wah Pheng started his career as department head of engineering department in 1993. His responsibility was on the engineering of cable television encoder for manufacturing. He then jointed Shin Etsu Handotai (Malaysia) and became the department head of Material Characterization Department from 1997 to 2006. He was also engaged in own business related to research and development of microcontroller based products, wireless control, audio and video streaming for consumer based application, security and surveillance systems from 2010 to 2016. He is now in Tunku Abdul Rahman University College as Associate Professor and Head of Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research to involve in the postgraduate administration and research activities related to internet of things (IoT), driving the implementing of industry 4.0 and agriculture 4.0 related projects in the industries.
