SYNOPSIS
Electrical safety at home is an important consideration, the lack of knowledge can cause injury or worst, death. Prevention is better than cure, globally there are people who were electrocuted in their own homes and sometimes lost it due to fire caused by short circuits. Basic knowledge or simple action can prevent disaster from happening. Electrical safety related issues constantly evolving and must not be overlooked. The Energy Commission of Malaysia is comprised of three main roles and functions namely Economic Regulation, Technical Regulation, and Safety Regulation. These regulations were enforced to ensure security, reliability and quality in electricity.
The content of the seminar: 1. Case studies on of electrical accidents. 2. 4 Zones of current – Magnitude/ Time Duration. 3. Effects of current on human beings and livestock (IEC60479-1). 4. Electrical installation regulatory requirements and standard compliance. 5. Prevention of electric shock. 6. Q & A
This discussion will provide a simple and practical guide to promote safety at homes.
SPEAKER
Jason Guevarra Sonido is a Registered Electrical Engineer by profession with 15 years of diverse experience, combination of industrial, mechanical and electrical. Acquired his degree in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2003. He has been a part-time instructor to the same university from 2006 – 2017 teaching basic engineering subjects such as Engineering Sciences & General Electrical Engineering Subjects. He was a plant electrical engineer, product development engineer and QA Seat Assembly engineer at TS Tech Trim Philippines. He was also a junior electrician at LG Foods Incorporated from 2003 – 2004 which has a lot of hands on experience on wiring installation, troubleshoot & conducts preventive maintenance when necessary. His major design projects include; Electrical system of a water treatment facility for a food manufacturing company and customized switchgear designs for a power plant and resin factory.
He is a member of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines and employed in Himel Electric as Regional Technical Support Engineer.
