SYNOPSIS

Solar Energy is an abundant source of green energy naturally available around the world. It is radiant light and heat from the Sun that is harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar photovoltaics system. The solar energy in Malaysia has become the major focus in the power industry since last 5 years with the Feed-in Tarif then later from year 2017 with Large-Scaled Solar Plant and Net Energy Metering. Malaysia government has set new goal for 20% of renewable energy by year 2030, which largely will come from solar energy. In view of that, Gading Kencana Sdn. Bhd. (GKSB) has been actively involved into this challenge in achieving this government goal.

The solar energy harvesting is very evolving in the new technology and more commercially viable for investment either in small and bigger capacity, for use in residential, commercial and utility application. Almost a third of the Earth's greenhouse gas emissions come from energy sector, so renewable energy sources like this are crucial. Since that utility scale of solar PV projects generate a lot energy, design specifications acquire importance, because their modification cause a huge variation in the production. Keeping the designer in the latest and new technology in the solar energy product is vital to ensure the newer plant would able to cope in the very competitive market.

Utility scale solar plant projects are expanding very fast in Malaysia, also around the world, paving the way for many opportunities for investors and solar EPC contractors with many challenges due to their complexity and very big size. The continuation, this topic will cover the challenges faced by the solar energy entrepreneur in managing the solar energy product. The talk will reveal the different types of risks involved in the solar power plant. Interesting case studies from own and other’s experiences will also be shared to portray and knowledge enhancement as part of has been involved in the solar energy.
