BACKGROUND

In line with the proposal from the Executive Committee (Excomm) to focus on recruiting more Technologists and Technicians, there is a need to establish an effective platform for these target groups to share their common interests as well as to organize activities that could benefit such target groups.

The proposal is for the Standing Committee on Activities, the Standing Committee on Admissions and Practical Training (APT) as well as the Sub- committee for Membership Drive and Promotions to jointly establish and monitor the two new sections, and to ensure that it provides relevant activities to serve the target groups.

The objectives of establishing a Section each for Associate and Incorporated members are to:
i)  Promote the recruitment of Associate and Incorporated members;
ii)  Create activities that are relevant to the Associate and Incorporated members;
iii) Create a platform for sharing of knowledge and expertise within the respective sections;
iv) Provide views, opinion and proposals on matters concerning the respective sections to the Institution; and
v)  Brainstorm and create a potential pathway for Technologist and Technician to achieve further qualifications

A gathering to set up the Pro-tem Committee will be held at the Auditorium Malakoff, Ground Floor, Wisma IEM, Petaling Jaya on Saturday, 19 January 2019 at 12.00 noon.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
1)    Pre-election talk by Ts Ir. Choo Kok Beng FASc
2)    Election of pro-tem committee members.
3)    Discussion and finalization of rules for ETech
4)    Other matters arising and any other matters
