SYNOPSIS
Flood mitigation involves the management and control of flood water movement, such as redirecting flood runoff and methods used to reduce or prevent the detrimental effects of flood water. Common challenges from Flood Mitigation such as rapid urbanization, climate change, construction activities due to development and population growth will intensify the risk of flood. This presentation will focus on the flood mitigation study and challenges during construction of the On-Site Detention Pond for Sg Rasau Toll Plaza.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir Suhana Abdul Majid holds a Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Glasgow Scotland. She is currently the Managing Director of Prestasi Perintis Sdn Bhd, Civil and Structural Engineering Consulting Firm. She is responsible for the company operation, ensuring quality delivery of consultancy services of all projects, particularly in respect of technical soundness, quality, timeliness and Client satisfaction. Her professional career over the last 30 years covers various fields of Civil and Structural Engineering Services, such as feasibility study, infrastructure design, condition assessment and asset management services in transportation sector as well as mixed development projects. She has involved in the implementation of comprehensive range of projects that include, the North South Expressway, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), KTM Double Track between Ipoh Rawang, LRT Extension, Ministry of Health Projects, University Industry Selangor (Unisel), Penang Bridge Second Crossing, Total Asset Management System for PLUS, Dilapidation Survey for LRT3 and etc.
Ir Suhana Abdul Majid is a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, Vice Chairman 1 of the Women Engineers Section (terms 2015 – 2017) with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia and Member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia.
